What’s the best thing (stuff) to use on beat up furniture?

I have nice furntiure, but it’s been through a lot. We got it when our son was 4 and he’s 8 now, so to say the least, it’s been through HeII.

It’s nice furniture, just really scratched up. Not scrathed like it has had the finished taken off….just “dents” in the wood.

I have used Old English, but it doesnt do anything but make it shiny. How can I cover the dents in the wood without refinishing it?

Thanks.
Sorry for the typos….trying to do two things at once here.

If it’s real wood, maybe putting a warm iron over a damp cloth on each dent might cause the “dents” to swell up and disappear.
