What is the best way to move a sofa through a small doorway?

I am buying a new sofa (well, new to me), and it measures a little bigger than my doorway. I know there are strategies for tilting sofas to make it through — do you have any helpful suggestions? My doorway is 33″ and the sofa is a little more than 36″ at the widest point. This can be done, right? Or can it just not work? Fingers crossed — thanks ahead of time for ideas!
